Shadnagar police in Shamshabad zone have made a key breakthrough in the kidnapping and murder case of Dalit youth Erra Rajasekhar. The police have identified eight people involved in the murder, seven of whom have been arrested and sent to remand. Officials said that another accused, Ganesh, is absconding.
Shadnagar Assistant Commissioner of Police S. Lakshminarayana and CI Vijay Kumar revealed the details in a statement released to the media.
Details of the accused
The main perpetrator of the murder is Kagula Venkat of Yellampalli village along with him:
Patti Seenu (tractor driver)
Vadde Narsimlu — Pudur, Vikarabad district
Ganesh of Gauthapur village (on the run)
Soma Suresh alias Somachand Kumar — Najibnagar
Bijju Raghavendar — Rangampalli
Avula Srikanth (decent driver)
Kanugla Ramulu
The police have confirmed that a total of eight people were directly involved in the murder.
Murder based on a love affair
According to the complaint filed by Rajasekhar's wife Erravani—
On the 12th of this month at around 11 pm, the main accused Venkatesh and three other people came to the house and called Rajasekhar out saying that they “needed to talk”.
The police investigation revealed key facts:
There was a love affair between Rajasekhar's younger brother Chandrasekhar and Bhavani.
Rajasekhar supported the love.
Bhavani's father Venkataiah opposed the relationship due to his low caste.
Venkatesh, who thought that Rajasekhar was supporting this love, decided to kill him.
Murder in the Innova car
After the kidnapping, Rajasekhar was put in an Innova car and taken towards Annaram Junction. Inside the car:
The accused strangled him with a nylon rope,
some held his legs,
and murdered Rajasekhar, the police revealed.
Cremation in the forests of Nawabpet
After the accused diverted the car towards Rameshwaram,
and went to an uninhabited area on the border of Nawabpet:
The police found during the preliminary investigation that they had taken the body out of the car,
poured 6 liters of petrol brought in a plastic can on the body,
and set the body on fire with a lighter.

Two cars
Rs. 6,500 in cash
A cell phone

The "Media Press ID Card" of the main accused Venkatesh
Investigation supervision
This case was completely
under the supervision of Shamshabad DCP Rajesh,
ACP Lakshminarayana, CI Vijaykumar, and SI Sarathkumar, along with the police, played a key role in the identification and arrest of the accused.
The Cyberabad Police Commissioner has announced rewards for them, officials said.
