China Commemorates Birth Centenary of Former Leader Jiang Zemin at Great Hall of the People

Xi Jinping Highlights Jiang Zemin’s Courage, Vision and Commitment to the Party

Beijing: The Communist Party of China (CPC) organised a grand gathering at the Great Hall of

the People in Beijing to commemorate the birth centenary of late Chinese leader Jiang Zemin.

The event was attended by Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, along with members of the Politburo Standing Committee and other senior Chinese leaders. The gathering paid tribute to Jiang Zemin’s contributions to the Communist Party and to China’s development.

Xi Jinping Pays Tribute to Jiang Zemin

Addressing the gathering, Xi Jinping called on Party members and the Chinese people to learn from Jiang Zemin’s extraordinary courage, vision and commitment.         

Xi said Jiang remained firmly committed to communist ideals throughout his political career and demonstrated strong loyalty to the Party and the people. He also highlighted Jiang’s dedication to advancing the cause of the Party and the country.

Xi urged the entire Communist Party of China and people across the country to continue advancing the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics, while drawing inspiration from Jiang Zemin’s political legacy and contributions.

Jiang Zemin’s Political Career

Jiang Zemin was one of the prominent leaders of modern China. He served as General Secretary of the Communist Party of China from 1989 to 2002 and as President of the People’s Republic of China from 1993 to 2003.

During his leadership, China experienced significant economic and social transformation and continued its integration into the global economy. Jiang was also associated with the development and promotion of the political theory known as the “Three Represents.”

Remembering a Former Chinese Leader

Jiang Zemin died in 2022 at the age of 96. His death marked the end of an era for a leader who had played a significant role in China’s political and economic development during a period of major change.
