SBI Junior Associate Recruitment 2026: 7,680 Vacancies, Eligibility, Exam Pattern, Salary & Apply Online

State Bank of India (SBI) has released the detailed notification for the recruitment of Junior Associates (Customer Support & Sales) in the clerical cadre. Eligible Indian citizens can apply online for vacancies in one State/UT only. The online application process is scheduled from 11 August 2026 to 31 August 2026.

SBI Junior Associate Recruitment 2026 

According to the notification, SBI has announced 7,680 regular vacancies, along with backlog vacancies. The recruitment will be conducted through an online Preliminary Examination, Main Examination and, wherever applicable, a Local Language Proficiency Test.

State-Wise Vacancies

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government.

Candidates in the final year or semester of graduation may also apply provisionally, provided they produce proof of passing the graduation examination by 31 December 2026, if provisionally selected.

Age Limit

The age limit is calculated as on 1 April 2026.

  • Minimum Age: 20 years
  • Maximum Age: 28 years
  • Candidates must have been born between 2 April 1998 and 1 April 2006, both dates inclusive.

Age relaxation is available for eligible reserved categories. The notification provides:

  • OBC: 3 years
  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • PwBD: 10 to 15 years depending on category
  • Ex-Servicemen: As per applicable rules
  • Eligible widows/divorced women/judicially separated women: 7 years, subject to prescribed maximum age limits.

SBI Clerk Selection Process

The selection process has three stages:

  1. Preliminary Examination
  2. Main Examination
  3. Local Language Proficiency Test, wherever applicable.

Preliminary Examination

The Preliminary Exam carries 100 marks and has a total duration of one hour.

There is a negative marking of one-fourth of the marks assigned to a question for every wrong answer.

Candidates are shortlisted for the Main Examination based on their aggregate Preliminary Exam performance. The Preliminary Exam marks are not added to the final merit score.

The Main Exam carries 200 marks and has a total duration of 2 hours 40 minutes.

There is also one-fourth negative marking for wrong answers. The final merit list is prepared using the aggregate marks obtained in the Main Examination.

Local Language Test

Candidates selected for a particular State/UT must be proficient in the specified local language. Candidates who have studied the required language in 10th or 12th standard and can provide the relevant marksheet or certificate will generally not need to take the separate language test.

Other provisionally selected candidates must qualify in the Local Language Proficiency Test before joining. Failure to qualify can result in disqualification.

For Telangana, the examination languages include English, Hindi, Telugu and Urdu.

Salary and Pay Scale

The SBI Junior Associate pay scale is:

₹24,050 – 1,340/3 – ₹28,070 – 1,650/3 – ₹33,020 – 2,000/4 – ₹41,020 – 2,340/7 – ₹57,400 – 4,400/1 – ₹61,800 – 2,680/1 – ₹64,480.

The starting Basic Pay for a graduate Junior Associate is ₹26,730, including two advance increments. The notification states that total starting emoluments at a metropolitan centre such as Mumbai are around ₹46,000 per month, including applicable allowances. Actual allowances may vary depending on the place of posting.

Employees are also eligible for facilities such as provident fund, pension under the New Pension Scheme, medical benefits and leave-fare benefits, subject to Bank rules.

Application Fee

The application fee is:

  • SC/ST/PwBD/XS/DXS: No fee
  • General/OBC/EWS: ₹750

The fee is non-refundable.

Candidates must apply online through SBI's official careers portal. No offline application will be accepted.
