The 3rd G20 Tourism Working Group meeting will be held in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir from 22 to 24 May 2023. This information was given by Shri Arvind Singh, Secretary, Ministry of Tourism while addressing a press conference in New Delhi today.
Giving details, Shri Arvind Singh said that the stage is set for discussion and deliberations on the final deliverables. The two key deliverables of the Tourism Working Group include the GOA Roadmap for Tourism for Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and the G20 Tourism Ministers' Declaration.
Shri Arvind Singh further said that during this meeting the G20 member countries, invitees and international organizations would provide valuable inputs and feedback on these two draft documents and after discussion with the G20 member countries on these draft documents, the final version would be finalized by the Tourism Working Group. Will be placed in the meeting and the ministerial meeting.
Under India's G20 tourism track, the Tourism Working Group is working on five inter-connected priority areas. These areas are Green Tourism, Digitalization, Skill, MSME. These priorities are key building blocks to accelerate the tourism sector's transition and achieve the 2030 SDG targets.
Shri Arvind Singh said that a side event on 'Film Tourism for Economic Development and Cultural Preservation' will be organized on 22nd and 23rd May 2023, which will focus on strategies to promote film tourism. The event will witness the participation of G20 member states, invitees, international organizations and industry stakeholders. He also said that a draft 'National Strategy on Film Tourism' will be prepared to provide a roadmap for harnessing the role of films in promoting tourist destinations.
A panel discussion featuring esteemed speakers from G20 member countries, invited countries, will highlight country-specific enablers and challenges in promoting destinations through films.
The Tourism Secretary also informed that along with the main event, a national level side event will be organized in association with FICCI, which will focus on 'Promoting Incredible India through Film Tourism', for States and Union Territories Will provide an opportunity to share its policies and Best practices that have facilitated the growth of film tourism. The industry stakeholders will also give suggestions on encouraging filmmakers to shoot in different locations across the country.
Shri Arvind Singh said that the Ministry of Tourism along with CII has also planned to organize a side event on 'Ecotourism for Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals', in which public and private sectors will come together to accelerate efforts towards the Sustainable Development Goals. Delegates will also have the opportunity to experience local attractions.
During the 3rd Tourism Working Group meeting, the delegates will also visit the arts and crafts market organized by the state government, showcasing local handicrafts, artisans' work, importance of community participation. Delegates will also have a 'hands-on' experience at the Craft Bazaar through Do-It-Yourself (DIY) activities.
The Ministry of Tourism is also promoting the local products of Jammu and Kashmir by giving these souvenirs to the representatives of ODOP- Paper mache boxes are common themes seen on Kashmiri paper mache products which include flowers, box patterns. The saffron of Pampore-Srinagar is called the 'Saffron Capital of India'. Kava Cup and Brass Spoon - This has been a part of Kashmiri cuisine since ages.

The objective of this G20 Tourism Working Group meeting in Srinagar is to strengthen economic growth, preserve cultural heritage and promote sustainable development of the region. The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India welcomes the participation of representatives of G20 member states, invited countries and international organizations to collectively advance the tourism sector and work towards achieving the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
The G20 event presents a unique opportunity to highlight the tourism potential and cultural richness of the region.
