New Delhi, May 25: India Arab Cultural Centre at Jamia Millia Islamia organized its annual cultural fest “OKAZ-2023” on 22 May 2023. The Subject Association of the Centre organized this program in the conference hall of the centre. This year’s annual function, under the theme of culture has included calligraphy, poster making, photography and the exhibition of Arabian dresses as competitions among students. Apart from the students and research scholars of the Centre a number of students from deferent centers and departments of the university participated in the fest. Along with the certificates and prizes for the first, second and third position holders of each category, consolation prizes and certificates to few students also has been distributed. 
Prof. Nasir Raza Khan, the Hony. Director of the Centre inaugurating the program stressed on the role culture that plays an important role in connecting different societies. He said the we live in a world today which is governed by identities and culture has become one key defining feature of identities. Dr. Aftab Ahmad, the advisor of the Subject Association of the Center introduced the program said that the importance of this program is being reflected by its name “Okaz” which is a word which defines the old Arab Culture and Civilization.
The Poster Making Competition was organized on two separate topics, 'Save the Environment' and 'Islamic Calligraphy', and students from many Departments/Centres of the University participated enthusiastically. While speaking to the students, Prof Nasir Raza Khan emphasized the need of environmental awareness and keeping the campus clean and sanitize most of the time. He expresses gratitude to the students for creating wonderful posters to help conserve the environment.
Prof. H. A Nazmi, Prof. Shahid Jamal Ansari, Dr. Atikur Rahaman from Centre of West Asian Studies and Dr. Ahsan Raza from IACC have participated and appreciated the progam. A farewell party was organized for the last semester students in which the outgoing students expressed their experiences and were accorded with the mementos. At the end, the Advisor of the Subject Association, Dr. Aftab Ahmad thanked all the participants of the fest and appreciated the efforts and contributions of the participating students and teachers.
