Operation Muskaan-XI Successful with Coordination of All Government Departments

Ramagundam Police Commissionerate

193 Children Rescued, 18 Cases Registered in the Commissionerate Limits

In an effort to eradicate child labor, Operation Smile and Operation Muskaan are conducted twice a year to identify and rescue missing/abandoned children, and various types of child laborers working in grocery stores, mechanic shops, hotels, companies, and children found begging on the streets. Upon identifying such children, counseling is provided to their parents, and the children are either handed back to them or sent to children’s homes.

As part of this initiative, Operation Muskaan-XI was conducted successfully across the Commissionerate with the collaboration of officials and staff from Peddapalli and Mancherial districts, along with various departments such as the Child Welfare Committee, Labour Department, Education Department, Child Protection Department, and Health Department. This was announced in a statement by Ramagundam Police Commissioner Sri Amber Kishore Jha, IPS.

Teams comprising one SI and four staff members were formed in each division within the Commissionerate. These teams, in coordination with non-governmental voluntary organizations, conducted extensive inspections. The Operation Smile-XI campaign ran from July 1st to 31st, and during this period, 193 children were identified and rescued within the Commissionerate.

In Peddapalli district, 52 boys and 19 girls — a total of 71 children — were identified. Six cases were registered, and eight child laborers were rescued and enrolled in schools.

In Mancherial district, 84 boys and 38 girls — a total of 122 children — were identified. Twelve cases were registered, and 13 child laborers were rescued and enrolled in schools.

On this occasion, the Commissioner said that protecting children's rights is everyone's responsibility. He urged the public to actively participate in the elimination of child labor. He added that Operation Smile and Muskaan programs will continue regularly to protect child rights and eradicate child labor.

He appealed to the public that if they come across any child employed in labor, seen working, or found abandoned or missing, they should immediately contact the Child Helpline 1098 (Child Protection Unit) or Dial 100 to inform the police. He also warned that strict legal action will be taken against those employing children as laborers.

The Commissioner also appreciated and congratulated the officers and staff of various departments who cooperated with the police department to make Operation Smile a success.#oursociety #oursocietynational #oursocietymeadiagroup
