Expose America's Misdeeds – Stand in Solidarity with Palestine – CPI(M) State Secretariat Member Mohammed Abbas

CPI(M) State Secretariat member Mohammed Abbas has called on the central government to expose the atrocities of the United States for backing Israel’s brutal attacks and to stand firmly with Palestine. Speaking at a press meet organized by People’s Solidarity for Palestine at Bashir Bagh Press Club in Hyderabad on Saturday, Abbas emphasized that India has long stood in support of Palestine.

He strongly condemned Israel’s blockade that has prevented essential supplies such as drinking water, medicine, and food from reaching the people of Palestine. He accused Israel of launching attacks that violate human values and the rules of war, denying Palestinians access to necessities and forcefully occupying their homeland.

He highlighted the alarming situation, quoting an Israeli minister who reportedly said even children in Palestine are enemies, as evidence of the dehumanization. Abbas expressed regret that today's Indian rulers are not opposing Israel’s aggression, despite India’s historic support for the Palestinian cause.

He criticized the United States, which speaks often of human rights, for staying silent while violations against women and children continue in Palestine. Referring to statements like “We want Gaza,” Abbas said such rhetoric reflects America's imperialist ambitions.

Former MP and CPI national leader Aziz Pasha expressed anguish, stating that two million Palestinians are being surrounded and killed at will, describing the situation as unprecedented in its horror. He demanded that Israel be investigated for war crimes, and urged India to return to its previous stance of supporting Palestine.

TJS President and MLC Professor Kodandaram said Israel has the right to protect its citizens but cannot justify the eviction of Palestinians from Gaza and the West Bank to occupy their land. He condemned attacks on hospitals, schools, and residential areas, calling them unacceptable. He urged the entire world to denounce these actions and stated that India's central government must take responsibility for pushing toward peace and justice. He demanded the protection of Palestine’s right to self-determination.

Retired Judge Justice Chandrakumar reminded that the United Nations was established to prevent wars and safeguard human rights and peace. He pointed out that this is not a war between armies, but rather a situation where Israel is killing Palestinian civilians, and questioned where human rights now stand. He called on the Indian government to raise the issue at the UN and ensure justice for Palestinians.

Social activist Shara Matthews criticized countries like Turkey for continuing large-scale trade with Israel. She noted that while the Congress party claims to support justice for Palestine, she demanded that the Congress-led state government refrain from signing any agreements with Israel.

The event was also attended by All India Thameer Millat General Secretary Omar Ahmed Sharif, Advocate Dr. Ismail, and People’s Solidarity for Palestine Convenor Mohammed Aftab, among others.
